Another Successful Draft!

I just wanted to take the time to post a quick message to the group and thank everyone for the effort it takes to make it to the live draft. I think this league has lasted 15 years because of the seriousness in which everyone takes the draft but also the effort to make sure we see each other at least once a year. It is amazing that we still retain like 85% of the original founding members in the league. We have literally seen Dan D’s son, Kam, grow up before our eyes in this league. Literally, guy is a giant. Imagine the day he actually joins the league with his own team and beats his dad.

Anyway, enough of the emotional shit of being in a league this long. I have spent hours pouring over the draft results and grading every pick based on its merit and value regarding the round it took place. Here is a video of my thoughts:

All Hail the New Champ

Congrats to Jon on his first MBFFL win. Welcome to the champions club! Kevin came up a bit short losing to Jon and taking second place. Jon was a bit of a dark horse entering the playoffs. He came in as the #3 seed in his division and ran a major risk of not having a starting QB sometime during the playoffs. This did happen with his TE spot but still managed to fend off Kevin.

Here are the season results:

The Championship is Set!

So there we have it, Kevin and Jon are set to face-off in the MBFFL 2017 Championship game. Kevin has defined the term limping into the championship but all that no longer matters, he is there. Anything can happen now!

On the bottom, Erick and Craig will battle it out to become top loser.

Don’t forget to check the bracket to make sure you are not playing for something before you don’t change your lineup this week.

Good luck!

Playoff Picture

Well here we are, week 13, playoffs are in the air. Lets take a look at where everyone is at in terms of the playoff picture. I might even give a prediction on who will win it all this year.

Over in the Light Division, it is easy, the playoffs are already locked. Walsko, Kevin, Mark and Dan D. are all officially IN. The only thing left to do is lock the seeding. This is where is gets interesting. If Kevin, Mark and Walsko all win, then the seeding remains the same. There are too many other scenarios to go through but obviously is 2 win and 1 loses, everything shifts up. Kevin plays Dan so that match is pretty meaningful for seeding as it has a direct effect.

Meanwhile, in the Premium Division, everyone except Kyle and Craig (more on that soon) still has a shot to make the playoffs. Jon and Alan are locked but Dan, Bauhs, and Nick are still all open. This is where it gets VERY exciting. Nick plays Bauhs and Dan plays Jon.

Lets start with the more meaningful matchup which is Nick vs Bauhs. If Bauhs wins, he is in. Nick happens to own the head-to-head over Dan and Craig so if Nick wins, he is in. If Bauhs loses he is out because even if Dan loses, Dan owns the head-to-head. Lastly, obviously if Nick loses he is out. So this is really a must win for both, win and in.

Back to Craig, he would need losses by two teams between Bauhs, Dan and Nick but Nick losing means Bauhs wins which would eliminate Craig. Nick winning means Craig is out because Nick owns the head-to-head. Lastly, Dan losing wouldn’t matter because Dan owns the head-to-head over Craig. Sorry Craig, better luck next year.

I think that covers everyone, pretty much win and in for those who have a chance still while the Light Division fights over seeding. Of course there are seeding implications in the Premium division as well but those are not as exciting as the elimination matchups.

I think the team to beat is probably Jon’s team. Top to bottom he is looking pretty solid and it looks like Freeman will be back this week. As we know, anything can happen from week-to-week so its anyone championship to win! Good luck!

The Missing Commish

Hello League!

I know I have been severely devoid of my duties of entertainment in the league this year. I mostly blame the 11 weddings I had from August – October this year but ultimately I am sure I had an hour to put something together each week. That being said, I apologize and plan to write an update each week through the playoffs! You might even get lucky and see a video from me.

Lets get into it;

This year has been depressing for me as a fantasy football player and as a Packer fan. My fantasy teams are mostly led by Aaron Rodgers and as is with the Packers, if he goes down, we go down. The sad thing is, that Light division is so weak this year that if I win out, DTM loses out, and Weber loses 1 of 2 games,  I could still make the playoffs. The Light division is a pretty sad sight outside of our leader, Walkso. It is great to see Walkso again have a good season after so many years of bad ones. It doesn’t look like last year was a one-hit wonder as some may have thought. Kevin and Mark are right behind him to try and lock up playoff spots of their own with DTM and Weber hoping to snag one as well.

Over in the other division everyone of their teams would be a playoff team in the Light division. It is a SUPER tight race that literally anyone could easily still win. Kyle or Nick, currently in last, could easily end up the #2 seed and Dan H, Craig and Bauhs could end up being the #1 seed or miss the playoffs completely! It is an exciting race to follow! I am glad at least there is races to follow in a year where my team has no shot. I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention the league leader right now, Al. After years of me questioning why I invited him into the league because he may never be good, it is inspiring to see him leading the league with a self-given title of “The Future.”

The most meaningful matchup this week is probably Craig vs Dan. As you can see above they both could become the #1 seed or miss the playoffs completely so this game is VERY important. It is also a win-win for Bauhs (as long as he wins) to see 2 of his division foes try to knock each other out. Speaking of someone else taking the #1 seed away from Al, Al plays the #2 seed in his division Jon, who is no doubt looking to come for the #1 spot.

Don’t forget:

Trade Deadline is before the start of week 13.

Pickup Deadline is before the start of week 14.

Have a great week everyone and good luck to all those in playoff contention, I will be watching!

Another Successful Draft

Thank you everyone for making this year another successful draft! The first round was a bit unpredictable but overall I think everyone had a pretty decent draft (except Craig). One thing you can definitely count on is that I will draft a WR in one of my leagues who tears his ACL 10 min later. We watched it happen to Jordy 10 min after I picked him in one league, seeing that unfold on TV during the draft was ridiculous but I am very happy to take one for the team on a Bear and NOT Jordy this year.

Congrats again to Bauhs, the reigning league champion. May the odds be forever in your favor.

Nick spent 100% of his effort on the draft this year. It was very obvious to see on the ride home as he could not manage to stay awake. It is good to see someone leave it all on the field during draft day.

Good luck to everyone this year!

2016 Champion and Summary

First let me start off by offering a congratulations to our league Champion, Ryan Edward Bauhs. He now joins me in the elite club of the only people to win the league twice. Of course I will still hold on to my back-to-back feat until I die.

Walsko had a great run! Typically finishing toward the bottom Walsko won the Light Division despite not having his team’s namesake, Jamaal Charles. It was a valiant effort and I look forward to seeing if that success can continue. It is true that if you are not first you are last, but the money for 2nd isn’t too bad.

I also want to give a shout out to Dan H. He made some great trades this year that made his team seem unstoppable. This was his year to finally get a ring. Sadly he fell short with a Gronk injury while running into a buzzsaw (eventual champ) in the Premium Division Championship. This will always be the year Dan will wonder; “What if”

Congrats to Dan D. On winning the loser bowl!

2017 Draft Order & Trans Fees:

  2. Dan D. – $21
  3. Erick – $24
  4. Craig – $30
  5. Gallagher -$16
  6. Kevin – $16
  7. Nick -$16
  8. Mark – $46
  9. Kyle -$8
  10. Weber – $36
  11. Dylan – $40
  12. Dan H. – $21
  13. Walsko – $12
  14. Bauhs – $26

Round 3 MBFFL Playoffs 2016

The championship round is upon us! Last week there was some crazy games, but most especially the premium division title game. At the end of the match, on Monday night, Bauhs was down ~2 points. Gano lined up for a FG and MISSED! Bauhs for sure though he lost and Gano was to blame. He had already started a Ray Finkle like obsession with him. Somehow, in the last minute of the game, Gano got another chance and nailed it. Bauhs ends up winning by ~1 point. Sorry Dan, you will get a Fantasy championship eventually!

So that leaves us with:

Bauhs vs Walsko for League Champion

Dylan vs Dan H for 3rd/4th

Dand D vs Gallagher for Loser Bowl Champ

Good luck to all, don’t forget you could still be playing for a better pick!
